Fences and gates that stay up
The nor’wester finds every weak post. We repair fences and gates properly, and build new ones for the wind they will get.
Fence and gate repairs
The fence leans a little more after every storm. A post has snapped at the ground. The gate drags or will not latch, and the dog keeps finding the gap. We fix the cause, not just the paling, so it stays fixed.
Small repairs are charged by the hour, and a few posts or a gate often fit in the first visit.
- Posts replaced and re-set
- Rails and palings replaced
- Gates re-hung, squared and latched
- Hinges, latches and gate hardware
- Storm damage repairs
- Gaps closed and dog-proofing
- Leaning sections brought back to plumb
- Old fence taken away
New fences
We build fences for the wind they will get: posts set deep enough, the right spacing and the right fixings. From a paling boundary fence in town to farm fencing on a lifestyle block. We live on and run a small farm ourselves, so we know what a farm fence has to hold.
- Paling and picket fences
- Post and rail
- Farm fencing: post and wire, with battens
- Boundary fences shared with a neighbour
- Gates: garden, driveway and farm
- Fences on sloping ground
A new fence starts with a free ballpark estimate from your photos, then a written quote if you want a fixed price.

Before you call
Do you do farm fencing?
Yes. Post and wire with battens, post and rail, and farm gates. We run a small farm ourselves, so we know what a fence has to hold.
Can you quote a fence I am sharing with a neighbour?
Yes. The written quote can go to both of you, so everyone sees the same price.
How deep do the posts go?
Deep enough for the height and the wind, and set in concrete where the ground needs it. We tell you what we plan before we start.
Do you take the old fence away?
Yes. The tip run is charged at cost, and it is on the quote before we start.
Ready to get it sorted?
