At The Wairarapa Handyman, we deliver honest craftsmanship, practical know-how, and just enough dry humour to make the job enjoyable—without getting in the way of getting it done. From squeaky hinges and leaning fences to full-scale backyard recoveries, we keep homes and small businesses across the Wairarapa running smoothly.

The business was founded by Bryan White, with over 30 years in service management who believes in doing things properly. No shortcuts. No surprises. Just solid work that lasts.

You may also have heard rumours about George. They’re true.

George, our Border Terrier, is the face of the business—and, depending on the day, possibly the brains behind it. His responsibilities include quality control, biscuit patrol, and reminding us that every job deserves focus, pride, and the occasional tail wag.

What we do best

  • Repairs & Maintenance – Fixing the small but important stuff—gutters, steps, doors, and the things that become a problem if ignored.
  • Carpentry – Shelving, doors, trim, and tidy joinery that quietly makes your place better every day.
  • Outdoor Projects – Fences, decks, garden beds, section tidy-ups, and weather-beaten fixes.
  • Custom Solutions – The odd jobs that don’t fit a neat category—but definitely need doing.

We try not to charge by the hour. A ticking clock isn’t helpful when there’s a fence post to dig. Instead, we quote fairly, do the job properly, and clean up afterward (yes, including George’s fur).

We’re fully insured, health & safety trained, and genuinely local—based right here in the Wairarapa and proud to serve the community with reliability, straight talking, and a bit of banter.

Whether you’re fixing what the wind knocked over, sprucing things up, or finally tackling the fridge-door to-do list—we’re here to help.
